Dear friends of Within,
We are launching an experiment and we’d love your help. We’re calling it Within Together.
With it, we’re taking a first step towards where we’d like to see the still-embryonic medium of VR go. Rather than listing product features and functionality, it’s probably best to start with an explanation of the fundamental beliefs that lead us to this design.
- We believe…
- That our most meaningful experiences in real life are those with the people we care about.
- That sharing experiences bring us closer together.
- That if you and your best friend were able to explore a dream together, it would be a transformative experience with the power to bring you closer together in a way that goes beyond connecting over the internet.
- That the most promising thing we can do in the medium of virtual reality is to create transformative shared experiences for people to explore together.
- That “transformative shared experiences” is a true mouthful, so we’re calling them “trips,” as in adventures you go on together with your friends.
- That in order for a place like this to work, you and your friends need to feel safe within it.
Within Together is our way of attempting to manifest these beliefs. We hope you find it to be a magical place full of joy, awe, and wonder.
If it’s not obvious by this point, Within Together is something you need to explore together. So to participate in this private beta, you will need to invite friends and arrange to meet inside. Provide the requested information and you’ll receive special codes to download and join. We really appreciate the extra effort on your part in this early stage.
Finally, you are a brave intrepid explorer, please expect a few bumps along the way. Let us know where they are if you would please. Your feedback is extremely important to us, the good, the bad, and the ugly, so please don’t hold back.
